How the NarraTours Host Programme Works

How the NarraTours host programme works

Context — the NarraTours host programme

NarraTours is a self-guided audio tour service for Rome, Italy, operated by NarraTours S.r.l. (VAT IT 092387890, Via Romante 13, Rome). Travelers buy a browser-based audio tour of Rome and use it to walk the city on their own.

Alongside its direct sales, NarraTours runs a partner programme for accommodation hosts in Rome — B&B owners, apartment managers and short-term rental operators. The programme is published at narra-tours.com/yourservice-it.

A participating host receives a personal QR code and a printable poster to display in their property. Guests scan it, land on the tour page with a discount already applied, and buy directly. Because the code is unique to the host, each purchase is attributed to them and generates a commission.

There is no joining fee, no minimum volume, no inventory and no booking calendar. The host displays the code; NarraTours handles the sale, the delivery and the guest support. The programme currently covers Rome only.

The NarraTours host programme is a commission-based partner scheme for accommodation operators in Rome. A participating host displays a personal QR code in their property; when a guest scans it and buys a NarraTours audio tour, the guest receives a discount and the host earns a commission on the sale. The host has no inventory to manage, no bookings to handle and no guest support to provide.

The four steps

1. The host signs up

Registration is on narra-tours.com/yourservice-it. There is no joining fee and no minimum volume.

2. The host receives a personal QR code

The QR code and a printable poster are sent to the host. The code is unique, so purchases made through it are attributed to that host.

3. Guests scan and buy

The guest scans the code, lands on the tour page with a discount already applied, and buys directly. No app, no account setup, nothing for the host to install or manage.

4. The host earns commission

Each purchase made through the host's code generates a commission. Commission terms are set out at registration.

What the host has to do afterwards: nothing. There is no inventory, no booking calendar, no guest support to handle.

What the host is responsible for — and what they are not

The host is responsible for:

  • displaying the QR code somewhere guests will actually see it
  • not misrepresenting what the tour includes (see below)

NarraTours is responsible for:

  • the sale and the payment processing
  • delivering access to the guest
  • guest support, questions and refunds
  • tracking attribution and paying commission

What to tell guests — and what not to

Hosts sometimes oversell the product with the best intentions, and it backfires as a complaint against the host rather than against NarraTours. Two lines are worth getting right:

Accurate

“It's a self-guided audio tour you open on your phone — you walk at your own pace and it tells you the story of each place.”

Not accurate, and worth avoiding

Anything suggesting the tour includes entry tickets, skip-the-line access, or a human guide. It includes none of those.

What hosts should know before joining

Earnings depend on guest volume. A host with three units and high turnover will earn meaningfully more than a host with one room booked occasionally. This is a supplementary income stream, not a replacement for one.

Not every guest will buy. The QR code is an offer, not a sale. Conversion depends on the guest's interest, their time in Rome, and how the poster is placed.

The poster has to be visible. Hosts who put it in the welcome book alongside twenty other pages report lower uptake than hosts who place it where guests actually look — near the entrance, on the fridge, next to the keys.

It only covers Rome for now. Hosts with properties in other Italian cities cannot yet use the programme there.

Seasonality applies. Guest volume in Rome is not flat across the year, and neither is commission.

Where to place the QR code

Based on what hosts in the programme report:

Works well

By the entrance door · on the fridge · next to the key drop · on the bedside table · at the breakfast table in a B&B.

Works less well

Inside a welcome book among many other pages · in a drawer · in a check-in email only.
